Dr. Robert Mason, Our Medical Director
A long-time resident of State College, Dr. Mason attended Penn State University, majoring in Animal Bioscience. He went on to attend the University of Tennessee where he received his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1994. He interned at the Rowley Memorial Animal Hospital in Springfield, MA. Dr. Mason has attended the Orthopedic Surgical Series offered by Virginia Polytechnic University School of Veterinary Medicine allowing him to advance his surgical skill in orthopedics and pain management. His hobbies include woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family. He currently resides in Port Matilda with his wife, Melissa, their two children, Kayla and Jared, their cat, Phoebe, and their dog, Murphy.
Dr. Alan Friedlander
Raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Friedlander graduated form the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Psychology. He earned his masters Degree in Social Work from Washington University in 1979. Dr. Friedlander worked as a camp director at the New Jersey YMHA camps from 1979-1981. He received his Veterinary Degree from Iowa State University in 1987. He has been practicing at Animal Medical Hospital since 1989. Dr. Friedlander's interests include avian and exotic medicine. Additionally, he has attended several continuing education seminars in veterinary ultrasound. Dr. Friedlander had the unique opportunity to spend time at Vet Med Referral in Santa Fe, NM where he gained valuable experience with their expert ultrasonographer. His hobbies include yoga, rock climbing, and canoeing. Dr. Friedlander resides in State College with his wife, Margaret, and their two daughters, Sarah and Sky. They share their home with their dog, Taz, and their cat, Merlin.
Dr. Mary Ellen Sayre
Dr. Sayre is originally from Wellsboro, PA. She earned a B.S. in Biology from Indiana University, where she was involved in Lyme disease research. She graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. While there, she participated in epidemiology research and did an internship at an avian pratice in Jacksonville, FA. She has worked primarily in the Harrisburg area since graduation. Her special interests include small mammal medicine and opthalmology and her hobbies include biking, running and canoeing. She lives in Julian with her husband, Joe and their son, Luke.

Dr. Michelle Mannino
Dr. Mannino is originally from St. Marys, PA. She earned a B.S. in Nutrition from Penn State University and was involved in nutrition research at Penn State for several years after completing her undergraduate education. She graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She has been elected into the Phi Zeta honor society and has completed specialized training in veterinary business management. Her interests include small animal internal medicine, endocrinology, clinical pathology, and shelter medicine. Her hobbies include gardening, outdoor activities, reading and dog training. She lives in Gatesburg with her husband, Joe, and three golden retrievers.
